About Hiba Aizouq
Hiba Aizouq is a Syrian painter who had to leave her country due to the civil war and has been embraced by the peaceful environment of CerModern’s workshop in Ankara. Through the Artist Residency Program, Aizouq has produced many new pieces, including her latest exhibition “Unconditional Stories.” Her art focuses on introverted, relaxed, and even lazy individuals, and she includes portraits in the exhibition to convey the feelings and emotions of her subjects. Although she cannot prevent the negative effects of the civil war from being reflected in her works, she generally tries to focus on people and humanity. Aizouq believes that art is a global language, and painting is vital to her. The Artist Residency Project at CerModern is an important opportunity for her, and she feels comfortable and happy in the workshop, creating new and beautiful works.
